Originally known as Ford's Landing. It is believed to date back to the late 1600s or early 1700s. The Ford family is listed among the oldest families of the area.
From the booklet published in 1967 by the women of St. Stephen's Church, funded by Marguerite du Pont de Villiers Boden:
This home overlooks and has a splendid view of the Bohemia and Elk Rivers. No known record exists of just when this was patented, but it is believed to date back to the late 1600s or early 1700s. The Ford home was torn down, except for the kitchen and servants quarters in 1910, and the present home. It was reportedly so well built that the idea of tearing it down completely was abandoned. In 1967 the owners were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Frazer, who had lived there since 1913.
