From the booklet published in 1967 by the women of St. Stephen's Church, funded by Marguerite du Pont de Villiers Boden: Mt. Pleasant is located on the Grove Neck Road about one mile west of Earleville. It is a brick colonial-type farmhouse which contains some interesting woodwork. There is a mason's identifying mark on one outside wall. Two other houses in the First District have the same mark. According to tradition, a builder who resided in the village of Warwick built the three houses. Unfortunately no records reveal his name. Mt. Pleasant was the home of Dr. John Thompson Veasey, who was the son of Dr. Veasey of Essex Lodge.

In 1967, the house was estimated to be 150 years old. It was occupied by the Veasey family until the early 1900s. A fine tree of American holly grows to the west of the house. In 1967, the house was owned by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pearce.
