True Game

 

1665 – True Game – Anne Morgan, widow of Abraham Morgan, – 150 acres; Surveyed 4/14/1665. Lying on south side of the Bohemia River; Possessors: John Beedle.

 

1697 - True Game, 150 acres, was surveyed April 14, 1665, for Anne Morgan, on the south side of Bohemia River in Bohemia Hundred. In 1707 it was in the possession of Edward Veazey. The tracts of True Game and Manchester were purchased by John Veazey (1) and were mentioned in the will of 1697. They are included in the place called Cherry Grove.

From John Veazey's Will: I give and Bequeath unto my son Edward Veazey & my son James Veazey & my son Robert Veazey all yt Tract or parcell of land Called True Game lying, on the south side of Bohemia River which formerly was n ye possession of Abraham Morgan as many more att large appear by a Conveyance Dated ye fift day of Jan e Anno Domini 1694 Equally to be divded between my three sons, Edward Veazey, James Veazey & Robert Veazey.

 

1707 it was in the possession of Edward Veazey. In 1707, when Lord Baltimore's Rent Roll of Cecil County was prepared Edward Veazey possessed "Manchester," the tract "True Game," & 400 acres of "Essex Lodge."

 

1733 - Last Will and Testament of William Veazey, late of Cecil Co., deceased, dated 14 Apr 1733 in these words: “I give and bequeath to John Winterbeary all that parcel of land belonging to me being a part of a tract of land called True Game lying on the south side of the head of Capt. John’s Creek to be held by the said John Winterbury his heirs and assigns forever.”

 

1733-1759 Rent Roll - True Game was 240 acres.

 

1734 – John Veazey – Rumford, Manchester, True Game, Essex Lodge, Frisbys Prime Choice, Frisbys Farm, Addition to Frisbys Farm, Good Luck, Dividings

1734 - Edward Veazey – Devidings, True Game, Addition to Campbell’s Dividend, Campbells Dividend, Salem

 

1737 – Deed. John Winterberry of Cecil Co., planter, for 55 pounds, to John Beedle of the said county, planter, 50 acres of land which was devised to him by the Last Will and Testament of William Veazey, late of Cecil Co., deceased, dated 14 Apr Made 7 Oct 1737. Wit. & JPs: John Veazey, Pereg’n Ward. Ackn: same day by John and his wife Mary Winterbury. Alienation fine of 1 shilling rec’d from John Beedle by Jas. Paul Heath on 31 Oct. 1737. Rec: 17 Feb 1737. Wm. Knight, Clerk.

 

1739 – John Winterberry – True Game, Henricks Choice

 

1743 – Lease. John Campbell of Cecil Co., sadler, for 40 pounds, and for yearly rent, to Seth Ruley of the same county, planter, 100 acres of land, part of a tract called the Devidings on the south side of Elk River and now in possession of Mary Panthom and to remain in her possession for the rest of her natural life. Also a tract of 100 acres called Addition to Campbell’s Devident on the south side of Bohemia River lying between the Devidings and a tract called True Game and a tract called Manchester. Lease is for the term of the natural lives of the said Seth Ruley, Anthony Ruley (son of Michael Ruley of the same county) and Thomas Price (son of William Price of the said county.) Rent of 1 dunghill fowl due 10 Oct yearly. Made & Ackn: 27 Oct 1743. Wit: Pereg. Ward, Jno. Ward, Jr. JPs: John Veazey, Pereg. Ward. Rec: 10 Nov 1743. Wm. Knight, Clerk.

 

1747 – True Game – John Veazey – 710 acres.

 

1749 – Lease. John Veazey of Cecil Co., gentleman, for rents and services, to James Robb of the same county, cordwainer, 60 acres of land, part of a tract called True Gaim by tracts called Salem, New Garden, and Strange and by Capt. John’s Creek. Lease is for the natural lives of the said James Robb, his wife Jane Robb and their son James Robb. Rent of 3 pounds due 1 Dec yearly. Within two years time the Robb’s will plant an orchard of 50 apple trees. [Robb also spelled Rob.] Made and Ackn. 15 Jun 1749. Wit. & JPs R’d Thompson, John Baldwin. Rec. 15 Jun 1749. 1783 - 1783 Assessment – John Ward (surveyor) owned Level, Strange, Salem and True Game. [NOTE: he is not John Ward, Esq., John Ward IV, John Ward of John, or John Ward of Peregrine.]
