1658- John Wheeler 250 acres

 

1676 - P.82 Deed. John Wheeler of Sassafras River in Cecil Co., planter, for 10,000 lbs of tobacco in cask, to Nicholas Allome of Cecil Co., planter, 250 acres of land called Wheeler’s Point lying east of Chesapeake Bay on the north side of the Sassafras River by Wheeler’s Creek. Made 12 Mar 1676. Wit: El Williams, Henry Eldusley. Swithime Welles, Clerk. Ackn: 20 Mar 1676 before Augustine Harman and Joseph Hopkins.

 

1695 – Nicholas Allum died in 1695 and left his estate to his wife Anne. After Anne died it was to go to Nicholas Milward note: this is probably her grandson, son of daughter Margaret Allum and Levering Millward.

 

1702 – p. 249 Receipt. Written on the backside of a conveyance from James Rogers and Pamell his wife to William Freeman for 200 acres of land, part of a tract called Cox’s Forest on the south side of Bohemia River was a receipt from Gideon Pearce dated 1 Apr 1702 acknowledging that William Freeman made full satisfaction for the alienation of his land , for the use and order of Richard Bennett. Rec: 3 Feb 1702. John Dowdall, Clerk.

 

1702 – Deed. William Freeman of Cecil County and Sarah his wife to John Ward 200 acres part of a tract called Cox’s Forest. Josiah Richardson was a witness.

 

1702 – Levering Milward is a witness to an agreement, as is Margaret Milward. [note: Margaret is Margaret (Allum) Milward, daughter of Nicholas and Anna (Wheeler) Allum.]

 

1705 – 1710 - Deed from William Freeman and wife to John Ward

 

1707 – Rent Roll shows Wheeler’s Point split 170 acres to Parnell Rogers and 80 acres to William Freeman

 

1711 – Alice Parr, wife of Ezekiel Parr of Cecil Co., appoints her friend Jacob Caulk of Cecil Co. to be her attorney to sell a parcel of land called Colleton to Capt. John Ward, gent. Made 17 Aug 1711. Wit: Parnell/Pamell Rogers, Sarah Rose. John Dowdall, Clerk.

 

1720 – Thomas Ward was a witness to a deed from Griffin Jones of Kent Co. to Thomas Wallaston of Whitelay Creek, Newcastle Co. upon Delaware. Augustine Herman and John Ward were JPs.

 

1733 – deed from John Milward to Thomas Ward

 

1734 – deed from John Milward of Kent County, planter, to Thomas Ward of Cecil County, planter, 218 acres of Wheeler’s Point on the north side of Sassafras River (p. 3 & 16 of Abstracts… 1734-1753)

13th Feb., 1737.

 

To wife Anne, pt. of "Daniel's Denn," the dwelling plantation, 20 A. of "Freeman Park" at upper end next to Daniell Vhenson's during life, with proviso she accept sd. land for her thirds of real estate; 1/3 personal estate absolutely.

 

To son Isaac and hrs., plantation where he now lives, being pt. of "Verina," "Freeman's Park," excepting 20 A. at upper end.

 

To son William and hrs., plantation on Duck Ck., formerly John Foster's, and dwelling plantation after decease of wife.

 

To son Thomas and hrs., "Good Luck."

 

To son Richard and hrs., 200 A. -- pt. of tract John Foster bou. of Coll. John French; 100 A. of sd. tract to son Isaac and hrs.

 

To daus. Mary and Sarah and their hrs., 400 A. "Standaway," hd. of Sassafras R., Kent Co., and personalty. Residue of personal estate divided equally bet. child.

N. B. Probate shows Pall Mounce dec'd at date of probate and Isaac to be eldest son of testator. 21. 851.

 

 

1845 - will of Thomas Marsh Forman states that Rose Hill consists of seven tracts of land known by the names of Middle Plantation, Chance, Chance Resurveyed, Addition to Chance, Wheeler’s Point, Wheeler’s Point Resurveyed and a tract of land purchased of the late Mrs. Fisher and a parcel of land received in exchange from John J. Cox. [He also left Greenfields and Colleton to his nephew Ezekiel Forman Chambers but had sold both estates by the time of his death.]
